New Pan Asian Restaurant Opens for Business on Nov. 26 in Skyscape Tower
MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 17, 2007) – A gourmet Pan Asian restaurant in a downtown Minneapolis condominium tower? Believe it!

Otho—a new high concept Pan Asian restaurant and street lounge—is ready to "wok" your world seven days a week from its dazzling location at S. 10th St. and Portland Ave., in the Skyscape Condominiums tower ground floor retail space.
Otho officially fires up its burners on Monday, Nov. 26, just in time for the busy holiday dining-out and entertaining season. A special “grand opening fundraiser” will be held before the official opening to benefit two Elliot Park neighborhood non-profit organizations. And what a delectable selection of dishes awaits Otho diners: Open-Faced Pork Dumplings, Duck Confit Fried Dim Sum, Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings, 3-Pepper Tempura Soft Crab…and those are just the appetizers.
Entrees include Sweet Curry Coriander Chicken Breast, Cantonese Braised Short Ribs, Rainbow Trout en Croute, Grilled New York Strip Steak (with an Asian twist of course). Sumptuous salads, sizzling stir fries and a palate-pleasing pastry menu fill out the menu.
Thirsty? Otho will feature a wide array of domestic and foreign brews, along with a full complement of spirits in its well-stocked lounge.
Curious about how the food is prepared at Otho? A large window opening from the dining room affords a bird's eye view of the goings-on in the kitchen, from whence Executive Chef Kai Phanthavong will direct preparations of his intensely original, made-from-scratch culinary creations.
Phanthavong describes his culinary approach as a fusion of Asian-inspired cuisine prepared with both European and Asian ingredients and techniques. "It's Asian with a special twist," he says.
"Great food, coupled with a friendly, accessible atmosphere, all served up in a very unique, contemporary setting – that's what we're all about," says Kap Phanthavong, manager and co-owner.
"We're delighted that Otho is opening in Skyscape," says Paul Dincin of Tandem Developers, LLC, developer of the Skyscape Condominiums tower. "Otho will be a great in-house amenity for our residents, and we anticipate it will rapidly earn a reputation as one of the great restaurants in downtown Minneapolis. Otho also makes a statement about the continuing revitalization of the Elliot Park neighborhood, of which it is a part. Elliot Park has not had an upscale restaurant such as Otho in its midst in many decades!"
The restaurant and lounge will be open seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. on weekdays, and dinner from 5 p.m. on weekends. Wine, beer and cocktails will be served as well (weekday Happy Hour is from 3 to 6 p.m.) and the lounge area will remain open until 2 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights; other days the restaurant/lounge is open until 11 p.m.. A menu of appetizers and delectable pastries will also be available for late night revelers. Lunch prices will range from $4 to $8 for appetizers; $9 to $14 for entrees; for dinner, appetizers will range between $6 to $10 and entrees will be in the $13 to $26 range.
Free indoor parking is available in the attached Skyscape ramp. The telephone number for Otho is 612-455-1516; the street address is 949 Portland Ave.; and the website address is www.othorestaurant.com.
Otho is a first-time venture for co-owners (and brothers) Kai and Kap Phanthavong and Tina Schubert.
